Modern day life is full hustle and buzz but do you sometimes pause and looked around. Gazing at those marvelous structures make you think ” What is that something that makes it so Marvelous?”
Very few understand that each building has its own characteristics and elements which are backed by the thought process behind it.
So what exactly is the thought process behind it ?
If you are not an architect, hopefully you will briefly see behind the curtain and gain a larger appreciation of the time and skill it takes to design.
To build something that magnificent one should think differently. So how to think like an Architect ?
Architects mind is full with curiosity and when a project is introduced a lot of things are to be researched about . Research on solving problems like
- What is the site history
- Architectural History of that Place
- What is the cultural background of that place
- Understanding the climatology
- Understanding the people and their behavior (it’s the people in the end who will use the space designed)
- Critical Analysis of other factors governing the project
An Architect can see beyond the usual by using above points he/she conceptualizes his ideas. (If you have a doubt about “what is a concept ? ” click here. )
Also architects keep in mind the prerequisites of every age group and designing for all . It takes a special set of abilities to be successful in crafting a solution with little or no direction provided by others (apart from a collection of goals, requirements, and an understanding of the status quo environment) and doing so in a context in which there are many variables and moving parts in play.
One critical skill is the architect must be able to think in three dimensions…always.
Architects always have an eye for detail. They have such imaginative skills that they can visualize the whole structure to the finest of details. An example of this is Jawahar Kala Kendra designed by architect Charles Correa .
It’s funny how often we start with a specific idea of what we want to achieve and then end up reshaping it, redrawing and rethinking so much that it no longer looks like the initial imagery but it has the basic feel of it.maths-relevant-for-architecture?
